Haruka is the new trainer that will replace Kasumi, as Satoshi and Takeshi travel through the exciting new land of Houen! Pokémon Advanced Generation is a new season with new adventures, and new Pokémon!

Haruka goes to the lab to choose her starting Pokémon, but Odamaki-Hakase is out helping Satoshi catch Pikachuu, who has run away. She immediately sets out to find him. As she is riding her bike through the woods, she happens to see him up in a tree. Angry Pokémon are trying to attack him. Although Haruka is not fond of Pokémon, she chooses a Pokémon from the Professor's bag to help him out of the situation. After giving orders to Mudkip, who squirts her with Water Gun instead of the enemy Pokémon, Haruka and the professor notice an electric shock in the woods. Following it, Haruka first sees Satoshi.

After saving Pikachuu, Odamaki-Hakase takes the two back to his lab, where Haruka can choose her starting Pokémon. She chooses Torchic, because it is the cutest among the three. Treecko is too frighting, and Mudkip wouldn't obey her earlier.

The only reason she wanted to become a trainer, at first, was just to travel around and see sights and new places. After talking and going on a few adventures with Satoshi, she wants to become a Pokémon Master!...Although, she still has a lot to learn about Pokémon!!
Haruka has known Odamaki-Hakase since she was young. She also got a chance to speak with Ookido Yukinari-Hakase, with whom she formally introduced herself. She has a younger brother named Masato.
